Nitro Lofoten Adventure

In April, a large group from Nitro Snowboards embarked on the adventure of a lifetime. The goal was to explore Lofoten together using tents, snowboards, and surfboards as tools. With stunning natural beauty and a sun that seemed to never set, it became a journey they will likely never forget...

Read about how Nitro Snowboards team manager Knut Eliassen experienced the trip:

Together with Audi, the journey started in Munich, Germany, with the destination being Lofoten in northern Norway. A 3000 km car journey on autobahns, ferries, through fjords, and magical views. When the crew arrived in Lofoten, the group consisted of around 30 snowboarders in total. It included Nitro pros (Eero Ettala, Bryan Fox, Elias Elhardt, Sven Thorgren, Benny Urban, Dominik Wagner, Ludvig Billtoft, and more), filmmakers, photographers, and other dedicated snowboarders seeking their adventure of a lifetime.

The main goal of the trip was to snowboard as much as possible, camp on the mountains and beaches, surf, and have as much fun as humanly possible. Even as winter was winding down, it felt like the snowboarding adventure was just beginning.

Over the course of two weeks, we explored Lofoten with our snowboards. We ascended several peaks, the ocean provided great surf, and the camaraderie among the crew was top-notch. The feeling of camping on a mountaintop with views of fjords and mountains is nearly impossible to put into words. Words fall short. There's something special about being a big group of friends in such an exotic and remote place like Lofoten. Furthermore, there aren't many places in the world where you can ride from the top of a mountain all the way down to the sea. The feeling of being in a place that looks like a postcard is almost surreal. The first few days, we were incredibly lucky with the weather. The sun shone when we needed it most, and the wind was practically absent.

One of the best days was when we played football on possibly the world's most beautiful football field, considering the environment where the field is located (see the pictures). Then we hiked up the legendary Presten's Couloir, a 550m steep corridor that stretches from the mountaintop down to the sea in Henningsvær. After that, we headed to Unstad Beach to surf until the sun set. This day, we call it the Foot, Snow, Surf Trifecta (football, snowboarding, surfing, all in one day). Lofoten is the perfect place for snowboarders seeking adventure.

Camping on the mountaintops
was one of the many highlights of the trip. First, snowboarding all day until the sun sets. Then, sitting around the campfire with friends, illuminated only by the Northern Lights, is something we could have continued for months. Snow camping isn't something everyone does, but it's something we can truly recommend. With the right sleeping bag and pillow, staying warm all night is no problem. It's worth it for a more harmonious place, which is hard to find... and when you wake up, you just grab your board and ride.

The Run To The Hills Lofoten Adventure has been a journey of a lifetime, and we can recommend everyone to do the same. But remember that not all adventures need to be 3000 km away...
