If your on a budget, our recommendation is that you find your snowboard boots first. It is the most important part of your gear and you will regret to not have high priority on your boots the first day on the mountain. It’s worth adding a few bucks to get a really comfortable boot that fits.
Stiffer or softer snowboard boots?
One very important thing that often gets overlooked when chosing a new snowboard boot is the stiffness. In order to grade how hard or soft the boot is, we’ve mentioned the Flex on each boot. The higher the number, the stiffer the boot. A harder boot gives you more support at higher speeds while a softer boot is often easier to use and give you more freedom. The softer boot is generally designed for beginners to offer comfort and forgivness. The softer boot tends to be cheaper. A harder boot tends to be more expensive and are built to handle vibrations and big landings. The boot gives you better responsivness and stability all over the mountain. The more expensive boots often offers features as air dampening, more durable materials and liners with unquestionable fit.
What size?
It can be tricky to find the correct size when buying snowboard boots online. We thereby advice you to read the snowboard boots guide carefully. We’d hate for you to go on your vacation without a snowboard boot that fits you perfectly. In the guide we suggest you use the Mondo points system that includes measuring your feet. When we finally got snowboard bindings, we soon received snowboard boots! It all started with hard boots, just like the uncomfortable ski boots skiers use today. Nowadays it’s soft boots all the way and it’s one of the big pro’s to be a snowboarder.
There’s a lot of things to consider when getting a new pair of snowboard boots and we will try to help you. What do you want from your snowboard boots? A softer boot is often very comfortable, whilst not providing as much support as a stiffer boot. When you’re carving, a stiffer boot is key. If you weight a bit more, a softer boot will not provide you with enough support. Either way, we got the perfect snowboard boot for you!
Types of snowboard boots
There are different types of snowboard boots. They are viable all over the mountain but might be optimal for certain terrain or riding style. We’ve tried to divide them into segments to help you choose.Freestyle/Park Boots
When your in the park, a softer boot is generally desired. This is to feel more and take control of tweaks and jibs. A softer boot is also recommended for a beginner since it’s usually very comfortable and forgiving.All-Mountain Freestyle Boots
Like the freestyle boot, but a little stiffer. This boot provides you with additional support to handle greater speed whilst not loosing the advantages of a soft boot. You’ll ride comfortable in the park, in the piste and all over the mountain while carving, tweaking and jibbing.All-mountain Snowboard Boots
If you ride piste in lightening speed you’ll enjoy a stiffer boot. You’ll get improved support and responsivness whilst sacrificing the playfullness while riding slow.Snowboard boots lacing
Standard lacingStandard lacing is like your everyday shoes, with laces. It’s hard to get that snug fit you desire and takes time. If your outside and forced to tie your laces it can also get cold. However, it’s been working for a long time and is easy to replace. If you like old school, go standard!
Speed Lacing (Nitro TLS)
We prefer quick lacing, specifically Nitro TLS. Nitro TLS is quick, easy and secure. If you can lash your boot to be snug on your foot, the boot will be more comfortable. There are several different Quick Lacing systems on the market. We like the TLS due to it’s easy use and due to the fact that it’s easy to replace if it would break. That’s not the case with other systems.BOA Lacing
BOA is a brand that are specialized on quick lacing. You’ll find BOA on some of our boots. It’s very easy to use by adjusting the wheel when getting in the boot or getting out.
