Where do I ride? (What type of terrain. Resort/All Mountain/Freestyle)
There are bindings designed to perform better in certain areas.
What do I want from a binding? (Freedom&Comfort/Stability&Responsivness)
A softer binding offers more freedom and comfort while a stiffer binding gives you more stability and responsivness.
What’s my riding level? (Beginner? Advanced? Professional?)
A softer binding is optimal for a beginner to get the comfort and forgivness. An advanced rider might enjoy a stiffer binding to gain more stabiity and be able to apply more pressure with great result. Professional riders usually have really stiff bindings to handle the landings on the big jumps or riding down the Alaskan spines.
What’s your weight? (How will my weight affect the flex?)
Your weight have an direct impact on how you will experience the flex of the binding. If you weigh 90kg and use the softest of bindings, that binding will be really soft for you whilst perfect for a beginner that weight 60kg. If your a beginner that weigh 60kg and use the stiffest of bindings, your experience will be stiff to say the least.

An expensive binding can be equipped with extra features as air dampening to aborb chocks better, re-enforced parts to gain more durability and Vibram straps for that extra grip.

In the beginning of the evolution of snowboarding you didn’t use bindings. You had a snowboard without bindings, what we today call a Noboard. To get better grip different top sheets were added, but still no bindings. Once the snowboards started to get wider the riders realized that some kind of bindings was required. One of the first experiment was to mount bungee-cord to get strapped on the snowboard. After further more testing and experiements we have the snowboard bindings we have today, an essential part in our snowboard gear.
2x4 is standard and the most common mounting system for snowboard bindnings. 4x4 was popular back in the days but not anymore. The 2x4 system allows you to adjust the stance. Since this system works on the majority of snowboards and gives you freedom, we recommend the 2x4 system when considering a new binding or a snowboard.
3D and Channel (Burton EST)
3D-system are for Burton products only. This system use three screws in a triangle formation. Before purchasing a snowboard or binding, ensure they a compatible. The 3D-system only works with Burton products. EST is another Burton mount system. You might have seen it on the Burton Snowboards that have a channel in the middle. Some Flow bindings are compatible with the EST-system and we also sell disc’s to make Nitro bindings compatible.
If you are sure that you will ride Burton for the rest of your life, try the 3D or EST-systems. If not, stick with the 2x4!

Types of snowboard bindings

We’ve tried to classify bindings in order for you to decide what kind of bindings is optimal for you. But please be aware that in the end it all comes down to taste, if you know what you like then go for it!Freestyle Bindings
Freestyle bindings are more forgiving and have a softer flex to be optimal for park riding. Freestyle bindings offers the rider more freedom and the possibilities to tweak and jib. The soft flex gives the freestyle binding a surfing feeling when riding powder.All-mountain Freestyle bindings
All Mountain freestyle bindings are a bit stiffer than freestyle bindings. They are quite simillar with the main difference is the stiffer flex to provide more stability. This segment is a very good All mountain choice if you still want to have the freedom when riding park.All-mountain Bindings
If you ride the resort and all over the mountain in lightening speed, you should have a stiffer All mountain bindings. This provides you with great stability and responsivness when carving in the piste or applying pressure in powder. Please consider your weight when chosing a binding. If your weight is higher, get a stiffer binding. If your weight is less, consider a soft flex binding.Quick-Entry Bindningar (Flow binding)
Quick Entry snowboard bindings is a bindings that makes the lock and release quick and easy. It’s the rebel binding, either you hate it or you love it. Flow started with Quick Entry bindings and their still active. Step in, lock one strap and your ready to go!
