Nitro Snowboards Sustainability

Starting from the winter season 2021/2022, ALL of Nitro's snowboards are climate-neutral!

Nitro's Sustainability Efforts

Snowboarding is the best thing there is, but it's not something we need to survive. Snowboarding is a luxury sport, and unfortunately, it requires equipment that isn't inherently sustainable.

Like many other snowboard brands, Nitro is taking significant steps to make their products as sustainable as possible. However, this effort isn't limited to just manufacturing; it encompasses the entire lifecycle of the product. It's important to mention that Nitro's sustainability work is genuine, not just a green marketing claim.

Nitro has chosen to drive change in all aspects of its operations, from people and strategy to where you live, factories, materials used, production, and shipping strategies. Every little thing makes a difference.
A marketing message is visible and inspiring, but the most important thing is action.

Andi Aurhammer, Marketing Manager at Nitro Snowboards:
- Our sport will never be sustainable. Regardless of what all brands claim. It might be uncomfortable to hear, but unfortunately, it's the truth. However, there are still ways to reduce the impact we have on our climate. The most honest approach is to calculate your total emissions and find ways to reduce them. This requires a continuous effort that we at Nitro started years ago, leading us to more efficient production. But I also know that this is only the beginning of a very long journey. I'm excited about every little step we take and also thrilled to see other brands follow the same path. This isn't about marketing or any competitive advantage; it's simply about our future, says Andi Aurhammer, Marketing Manager at Nitro Snowboards.

A good sustainability effort is defined by not harming the environment or depleting the world of natural resources, thus supporting long-term ecological balance.

Nitro cares about the environment and the social responsibility of its business, as well as their passion for snowboarding. Nitro focuses on quality to extend the product's lifespan. They don't overproduce; instead, all production happens on demand. Nitro considers energy consumption and carbon emissions when shipping products worldwide. They purchase alternative and sustainable materials to replace those based on fossil fuels and with high carbon emissions.

Nitro's sustainability efforts don't stop at the product level. They believe it encompasses everything, and for them, social responsibility isn't just a checkbox. People are what make Nitro, and they believe every person in the company, supply chain, and distribution should be respected and treated fairly. Alongside all their partners, their core values are prioritized, and they work with factories that provide equal rights, fair wages, and opportunities for everyone involved in the process of providing you with a sustainable and quality product. Nitro has been responsible for over 30 years, and they will continue to work to be a reliable partner for suppliers, employees, and customers. Expect great things with an even greater focus on keeping snowboarding, snow, mountains, and the environment alive.

Nitro's Goal to Continue Being and Doing Better
So the question is, does Nitro offer "sustainable" products?
The answer is; yes, they do. Nitro's main focus isn't just on a single product for marketing purposes but on the entire supply chain and all relevant areas.

Snowboards

100% Climate-Neutral Snowboards
In partnership with ClimatePartner, they've been able to analyze emissions from their production and the entire lifecycle of the snowboard. They've changed their work to reduce their product's carbon emissions and invest in powerful carbon offset projects that compensate for 100% of their emissions. This makes Nitro's Snowboards from 2021 onwards officially climate-neutral.

Nitro Snowboards aims to inspire other brands to follow their lead.
As a consumer, you have the power to support brands that take the right actions to move towards sustainability. With that said, it's time to be conscious of the products you buy and support the brands that work towards a better, more sustainable future.

Ways You Can Help
Supporting climate-neutral products is important, but there are also other ways to contribute to a more sustainable future:
1. Choose quality over quantity: Invest in products that last longer.
2. Repair instead of replacing: Fixing items instead of buying new ones helps reduce waste.
3. Reduce, reuse, recycle: Follow the three Rs to minimize your environmental impact.
4. Support ethical brands: Vote with your money and support companies that prioritize sustainability.
5. Spread awareness: Share information about sustainability and inspire others to make eco-friendly choices.

The Future of Snowboarding and Sustainability

Creating a Positive Impact
Nitro Snowboards aims to create a positive impact on the environment and inspire the snowboarding industry to change for the better. By taking steps to reduce their carbon footprint and offsetting emissions, Nitro is setting an example for others to follow. Their commitment to sustainability goes beyond products; it's ingrained in their entire business model. As they continue to innovate and find more eco-friendly solutions, the future of snowboarding looks promising.

In Conclusion
Nitro Snowboards is dedicated to improving the sustainability of their products and operations. While achieving 100% climate-neutral snowboards is a significant milestone, they acknowledge that there's always more work to be done. As consumers, supporting such initiatives can drive positive change and encourage other companies to prioritize sustainability. By making mindful choices and holding brands accountable, we can contribute to a greener and more sustainable future for snowboarding and the planet.
